At Temple Menorah Youth programming is one of our biggest priorities. We believe that out Youth are the future of the Jewish people and we therefore invest a great deal of time into there development. In addition to the many social programs that we hold be also participate in community, educational, leadership and religious activities.
Through our various programs our children make lasting friendships and develop the skills needed to be the leaders of tomorrow. Under the leadership of our Youth & Program Director, Jeni Buchholz, we provide three different youth groups to children from 3rd through 12th grades, United Synagogue Youth (U.S.Y.) for high school, Kadima for middle school and Chalutzim for 3rd to 5th grade. U.S.Y. and Kadima are the official youth organizations of the Conservative Movement and are sponsored by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. Typical events for U.S.Y. and Kadima include bi-weekly meetings, dances, sports events, conventions, Shabbat programs, and weekend events. All youth groups participate in Social Action programs such as volunteering at the Special Olympics, where our youth learn the value of giving back to others. Kadima and U.S.Y. have the opportunity to participate in sub-regional, regional, and international conventions. Summer programs in Israel, Europe and North America are also available. At Temple Menorah, the emphasis that we put on our youth will help to build a strong future not only for our synagogue but for the Jewish community. Through our youth activities we provide an environment where informal Jewish Education occurs naturally helping to develop our youths Jewish identity and a strong connection to there community. Our congregation as a whole is extremely involved in the Jewish community throughout South Florida and through the work that we do we hope to continue that legacy for many years to come. |
