A NEW WAY TO GET READY FOR THE HIGH HOLIDAYS
Sunday, September 18, 2022 | 3 - 4pm
25°52'00.5"N 80°08'06.6"W
(Between Biscayne Point & Stillwater Drive)
Why are we blowing the shofar on the bay?
We blow the shofar during the month of Elul to prepare ourselves spiritually for Rosh Hashanah. During lockdown, Rabbi Pearlson blew the shofar in our local parks. This year, we're building on that idea to bring the shofar anywhere that people gather - including on the water...
Where is this event happening?
The meeting place is on the water just north of Biscayne Point: 25°52'00.5"N 80°08'06.6"W. Come by boat, paddle board, kayak, or any way you get around on the water. Here's a map:
What if I don't have a boat / water access?
You don't need a boat to participate. Some of us will be renting kayaks and paddle boards, for example. We also have a few friends who will be watching from their home docks along the waterway. Contact kayakclub@menorahmail.
What do I do when I get there?
If coming by boat, anchor in the center of the bay, or tie up to a friend’s boat (no anchoring needed if tying up). Make sure you have enough lines and fenders if you plan to tie up to others, or if you are willing to have others tie up to you. Kayaks and paddle boards can be tied to boats by lines as well. It is suggested to BYOL (bring your own lines) if you’d like to do so. Always remember to bring a life jacket for all on board!
Who is invited?
All are welcome!
What is Kayak Club?
This event is hosted by the newly formed Temple Menorah Kayak Club. We are people who love trying new things that bring our families together around Judaism - on water and on land.
