Mazal Tov Isobel!
Issy’s strong commitment to her Jewish heritage started at a very early age when she attended Lehrman Day School for Pre-K and Kindergarten. At Lehrman, she loved to enthusiastically participate in the weekly Shabbat celebration, and often acted as “Ima” at her class’s Shabbat assemblies to say the prayers over the candles and the challah, a ritual she has continued to perform with her family every Friday night to this day. As a Bat Mitzvah, Issy understands and embraces the importance of her commitment to her Jewish faith and is so happy and grateful to be able to share this day with her friends and family, many of whom have traveled great distances to celebrate this Simcha.
Issy is an exceptionally compassionate, thoughtful, and giving child. She always looks to help those in need and embodies the essence of a “gutta neshama” – a “good soul.” Issy’s generous nature was acknowledged as
a second-grader when she was presented with the coveted Jennifer Beth Turken Heart Award, given every school year to only one student, in each grade at North Beach Elementary School, who exhibits extraordinary kindness to others. Issy is now an 8th grader at Nautilus Middle School, where she is in the Junior Scholar’s program and on the honor roll. She is passionate about animals, particularly marine animals, and hopes to one day become a marine biologist. Issy is also an extremely gifted artist and loves music, singing, cooking, and all things Disney. We know that her inquisitive mind, intelligence, determination, and big heart will take her far in life. Issy is the caring and loving sister to her brother Jack and is the precious daughter of her parents Ian and Rikkah, who love and cherish her more than words can describe. Issy, you are Mom and Dad’s greatest gift – you bring us so much joy and pride every day, but especially today. We would like to especially acknowledge Bubby Shirley, who we are so grateful is here, and whose strength is an inspiration to us every day, Lolo Roger, who was not able to make the trip to be here, but who we love and miss dearly, and Grandpa Jack and Lola Irene who are no longer with us, but who we know are here watching over us and Issy with great pride. Thank you all for coming to share this great Simcha with us. Shabbat Shalom!
