Sgt. 1st class (res.) Ariel Lubliner, 34 | Brazil > Kiryat Bialik
Lubliner immigrated from Brazil a decade ago, settling first at Kibbutz Naan, where he studied Hebrew and met Barbara, who had immigrated from Spain. The couple married in 2018 and moved to Kiryat Bialik four years later.
Since Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack, Lubliner had been called up for multiple reserve tours. His latest began in June and was due to end this week. He was killed in Khan Younis on Friday, just two days before his scheduled release, when a soldier from a nearby unit accidentally discharged his weapon. The bullet struck and killed him instantly. Lubliner is survived by his wife, Barbara, Lior, their 9-month-old son, and his parents.
Hostages Body Recovered The IDF announced that they have recovered body of hostage Idan Shtivi (28), from Gaza during a military operation. Killed rescuing Nova Festival attendees during the Oct. 7, 2023 massacre, he was the second deceased captives recovered recently, along with Ilan Weiss (56, Kibbutz Be'eri). Idan is survived by his parents, Eli and Dalit, three siblings and his girlfriend, Stav Levy.
