Mazal Tov Morrie Bejar!
Morrie is a curious, creative, and unmistakably one-of-a-kind 8th grader at Miami Country Day School and a proud graduate of Lehrman Community Day School. He’s known for his kindness, compassion, generous spirit, and his infectious, quirky sense of humor. Morrie is a devoted son, an incredible brother, nephew, cousin and a fiercely loyal friend. He’s passionate about cooking — especially dishes loaded with garlic! He’s a music lover across all genres, and when
he’s not in the kitchen, or jamming out, you’ll find him jet-skiing or cruising around town on his e-bike. Morrie also brings an entrepreneurial spark to everything he does — whether he’s selling pickles, flipping items on OfferUp, or biking around the neighborhood offering car washes. He’s been a builder since day one: from designing cardboard boats that floated across our pool to building a full-scale poker table in woodshop this summer. He also treasures his summers at Camp Taconic, which he calls his second home and one of his favorite places on earth. For his mitzvah project, Morrie chose to honor the memory of his father, Sam ז"ל, by living the values his dad embodied daily: compassion, empathy, and the importance of showing up for others. Morrie began volunteering at the Kosher Food Bank at just four years old, alongside his best friend, and continues to give back in his father’s zechut (honor). Whether he’s fixing something around the house or helping someone in need, Morrie carries Sam’s ז"ל spirit with him — with pride, with love, and with a deep sense of purpose. As we mark this milestone, we know Sam ז"ל is watching over Morrie — beaming with pride and cheering him on every step of the way. His presence is felt in everything Morrie does and in the extraordinary young man he’s becoming. We also deeply miss Morrie’s grandparents — Sandra Segal ז"ל, David Segal ז"ל, Reina Bejar ז"ל , and Moises Bejar ז"ל — whose love, wisdom, and legacy continue to shape our family. They would be overflowing with pride to see Morrie standing tall today. Finally, we’re incredibly grateful to the friends and family who have traveled from near and far — Montreal, Toronto, New York, New Jersey, California, Maryland, and Washington, DC — to celebrate this special moment. Your presence means the world to us. Morrie is excited and truly grateful to celebrate his Bar Mitzvah surrounded by the community that has helped shape who he is today — and to do so with Sam ז"ל forever in his heart, shaping the person he’s becoming.
